Atlas — a design system that stuck

Overview

Atlas is the component and token library behind a multi-product suite — built to be used, not admired.

The problem

Three products, three button components, zero shared language. Accessibility was an afterthought bolted on before each release.

Process

I audited every surface, defined semantic tokens, and shipped accessible components with usage docs written for the people who’d actually reach for them.

Outcome

Six squads adopted Atlas within a quarter; feature teams shipped roughly 3× faster with AA contrast guaranteed by default.
